There’s a lot of conversation in the podcast world right now about video — most of it focused on whether to bolt a camera onto an existing setup. We think that’s the wrong question.
A couple of years ago we looked at our colour grading suite and saw something different — exceptional acoustics, room for a video wall, and 24 years of broadcast expertise sitting right behind it. So we built something that isn’t a podcast studio with a camera in the corner. It’s a full broadcast production environment that happens to be where podcasts get made. Dan, Max, Ian and Peter bring decades of broadcast knowledge to a format that’s still working out what it can be.
This summer, The Rest Is Entertainment — one of the UK’s top 10 podcasts, with 2 million monthly downloads — started filming here. Richard Osman and Marina Hyde are now recording their ongoing series at West Digital.
It’s a genuinely lovely validation of an idea we believed in before anyone was asking us to prove it.
