Nobody does their best work in one room all day
Recording is more tiring than it looks. Two hours in, the conversation flattens, and no amount of coffee carried into the studio fixes it. What fixes it is leaving the room for ten minutes.
So there is somewhere to go. A garden, a café bar, and complimentary drinks nobody is going to charge you for. They come with the booking.
A garden, which is rarer than it sounds in W12
Somewhere to stand outside, take a call, run a line, or say nothing at all for five minutes. Guests who are nervous before they go on tend to find it more use than anything we could say to them.
It is also where a fair few episodes get rescued — usually about ninety seconds after somebody has said “shall we just go again”.
Coffee, tea, and something to eat, on us
Help yourself. Hot drinks are complimentary and unlimited, and there are biscuits to get you through a long afternoon.
It is a proper room rather than a corridor with a kettle in it — space to sit down, spread out, and talk to your guest before the two of you are on microphones.
Somewhere to actually get something done
Plenty of people book a studio for the morning and then need to work for the rest of the day. The café bar and the garden are yours for that too. There is Wi-Fi, and nobody minds a laptop on a table.
The same goes if you are in an edit suite with us or here for a longer session. You do not book the break-out spaces on top of the room. They come with it.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to book the break-out spaces?
No. They come with any studio or edit suite booking. Nothing to add, nothing to pay.
Are the drinks really free?
Yes. Hot drinks are complimentary and unlimited, and there are biscuits to help yourself to.
Is there somewhere for a guest to wait before they go on?
The café bar, usually, which is the comfortable answer. If a show wants a room of its own, a private green room or control room can be added to a Studio One booking — the rate is on that page.
Can I work here between sessions?
Yes, and people do — book the morning, work the afternoon. There is Wi-Fi and room to set up.
Can I hire the spaces for an event?
Yes, separately from a recording. The garden, the reception bar and the theatre take up to 75 people between them.
